Papillons are an affectionate and dedicated breed of toy spaniels, and their intelligence makes them ideal for training. The distinct physical features of the dog breed are their plumed tails that arch on the back, and the appealing butterfly ears that are either erect or drooping, and prominent white nosebands.

Respect Training

Like in all dog breeds, a dog owner that neglects asserting authority over the Papillon will soon be encountering dominance problems from the dog. The solution, although indirect, is to get the dog to see that if it wants or needs something, it will have to work for it or obey you to get it. This type of training, called “nothing in life is free,” will not instill fear, nor make your dog submissive.
